Rookie manager Alan Lee got the better of veteran boss Bryan Hamilton as his side claimed the Portman Cup via a convincing 9-2 victory at Portman Road yesterday. Lee and Hamilton were taking charge of two teams of fans who had paid for the privilege of gracing the hallowed turf for an afternoon.

Academy first-year scholar Jonny Smith is set for international action this evening as Northern Ireland’s U17s take on Latvia in the first game of the UEFA European Championships mini-tournament that they are hosting.
Leeds 3-1 Town Sat 21st Jan 2012 17:18
Town were again guilty of suicidal defending as Leeds came from behind to win 3-1 at Elland Road. The excellent Andy Drury put the Blues ahead in the first half and Town looked on their way to the three points until a succession of calamitous defensive errors saw keeper Alex McCarthy sent off after he handled outside his area and the home side score three times.

Jason Scotland and goal-a-game midfielder Keith Andrews scored the goals as the Blues came from behind to beat 10-man Leeds United 2-1 at Portman Road. The visitors dominated the first half and went in front via Ross McCormack, but after the break Leeds had Aidan White sent off for pulling down Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Scotland and then Andrews’s deflected last-minute strike saw Town to the points.

Caolan Lavery and Tom Winter scored the goals as Town’s U18s beat Portsmouth 2-1 at Playford Road despite playing for 81 minutes with only 10 men. Defender Jide Maduako was red-carded in the ninth minute for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
